Overheard today while walking to the subway: “Ideas aren’t real until you write them down, so as awful as the writing process is, it is part of actually thinking.” (I paraphrase slightly.) Yes, I think this is true. The speaker and her companion discussed whether some people might also think by talking something through. They both agreed that externalizing vague thoughts somehow helped form these thoughts and shape them. You don’t really know what you are thinking until you write it down, or talk about it.
This is an important idea. That is why I have taken time to write it down.
